We had a spirited couple of days as we took part in some local Holiday events. Friday was the Toluca Lake Open House which was lively and fun! Clear skies made it a perfect night for families to enjoy the evening (and their pets too), plus live entertainment and yummy snacks to nibble on along the route. A great atmosphere. Saw some of our good friends and made new ones too. Thanks for stopping everyone!

Saturday was the Rescue Train's Gift Boutique, which was hosted by the lovely Samara in her gorgeous home. It was a beautiful day, supporting a wonderful organization. We're looking forward to being involved with future Rescue Train activities. Such a fantastic group of people. The talented Jessica from Sew Jessica joined us at both events with her line of handmade items for pets. Check her out here!

Just around the corner!

We will have a table at this upcoming Holiday event in Toluca Lake on December 3. We wont be alone, some of our craftiest friends are joining us too. Get festive, come out and say hello. The address for our "pop up" space will be in and around 10000 Riverside Drive. From about 5 pm til close. The following day we will be showing up here from 12-4pm. Another fab Rescue Train event. Holiday Boutique #1

Our little corner at the sale!

This past weekend was one of a few holiday events we will be taking part in. A lovely 3 day boutique was held at our friend Linda's home. She was the most gracious and welcoming hostess. Her house was so inviting and with the Holiday music playing and treats spread out for all to enjoy, it made for a festive and cheery atmosphere. This is such an ideal way to support local crafters and meet them face to face. Also love that you don't have to fight crowds while doing your shopping. We met some really interesting and talented people. One lady in particular who stood out was, Virginia, a 93 year old ball of inspiration - still making scarves, gorgeous Christmas Tree skirts and ornaments. She was lots of fun. Keeping herself busy with her hobbies! :-) How fantastic. Thanks again Linda. And Chrissy too.
We are hoping to secure a spot for the Magnolia Park Holiday Open House event which will be this Friday. Let ya know if we get that worked out. We will definitely be at the Toluca Lake Open House on December 3rd. Can't wait. Our exact location details on Riverside Drive coming soon! xo

Remembering Lil' Tyke

Marmaladee didn't have her Lil' Tyke to help her harvest pumpkins for Halloween or Thanksgiving this season nor will Lil' Tyke help Marmaladee to tear the Christmas tree down! Our beloved comedian, blue-eyed boy passed suddenly this year. We are beyond sad and miss him terribly but when the California skies are bright blue, like most of the time (!) we feel he is watching over us, surrounding us with his precious purrs and loving presence. Goodnight our sweet Prince, Lil' Tyke.

Post Event Day

Last Sunday October 24th, was the Race for the Rescues event at the Pasadena Rose Bowl. We got there while it was still dark outside and set up our space and kicked into high gear as soon as the sun rose. We had our usual assortment and some limited time Halloween themed necklaces too. Best seller of the day? Our St. Francis charms!
Our friend and local sewing guru Jessica joined us and debuted her new line of handmade "doggy poop bag holders". You can find them here. They are beautiful and made from reclaimed and vintage fabrics. These make great gifts.
Sunday was such an awesome day, a large turnout -adults, kids, animals. We had made great new friends, four legged and otherwise! Lots of love, support, and positive energy was flowing. We know what a massive undertaking this annual fundraiser is for Lisa Young and crew. Kudos to her and all of the tremendous efforts from volunteers and vendors. A great day was had by all! Thanks to all who stopped by to see us. We look forward to seeing you at the next event. Will post those details here soon. Holidays are coming up fast so expect to see us out and about with new goodies! Happy Halloween!!!

Plans for Fall

We are excited to announce that we will be participating in the "Race For The Rescues" event at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena on October 24! Race For The Rescues is a 5K, 10K run/walk & kid's fun run to raise funds for 9 non-profit, 501(c)3, rescue groups: A Dog's Life Rescue, Animal Alliance, Best Friends Animal Society, Four Legged Friends Foundation, The Jason Heigl Foundation, Molly’s Mutts and Meows, Operation Heroes & Hounds, The Rescue Train, & Stray Cat Alliance. For more details on this awesome event go here.
It is sure to be an amazing day - we will have our "SL Designs" booth set up there with "limited edition" Halloween and Holiday jewelry, plus brand new designs, greeting cards, pet art and more. We look forward to seeing you there. More info on the way, leading up to the big day - check back soon!

Kitten Call

Three lil' kittens who have all their mittens are ready to come home and play! Also to be your amazing best friend. I hand raised, bottle fed these angels since they were 2-3 days-old! This was my first experience and I'm telling you I cannot wait to do it again. Such a loving, precious team-ship! They belong to Petmania, a pet shop but I am keeping them until they find homes.

Note: Cassie & Yoda are very similar as you'll see in the photos!

1- Mama Cassie (as she was a chubby baby) and now Miss Cassidy - Black. She is so sweet. Loves to give you (and my older cat, Marmaladee) kneading massages. She's good! She may have some Siamese or some Egyptian-type-ness in her. Ears and wedge-like face tells all. Very affectionate.

2- Yoda - Black. Oh my. He is so handsome. He definitely has Siamese, Egyptian-royalty in him. His ears, legs, & tail are so long and he has a gorgeous wedge-shaped head. He's "owned" me, so to speak. He loves to be near you and lies on you when he can.

3- Flash - Black with a smudge of white on his back, hence "Flash." A cutie, full of beans. He's not as "Siamese" lookin' but has such a boyish figure. Very affectionate.

Thinking of a unique gift idea? Custom baskets are a great way to personalize a present for your friends & their pets. At left is a sample of something we worked on recently that includes one of our most popular matching sets of jewelry, a cute doggy tee, calendar, drink coasters and chew toys. So much fun! We have also started baking home-made treats, experimenting with different recipes and ingredients and tweaking them to get it all just right. A peanut butter recipe was a hit, as well as a spinach and cheese combo. Have you had success with baking treats for pets at home? Would love to hear about it! Please share any tips and hints. Our favorite rescue girl, Snow White, is still looking for a forever home, but what a fun time we all had with her! She was the belle of the ball for sure. Here is a link to her video. Help us find her a new home :)

We will be taking part in an upcoming event on Magnolia Blvd. in Burbank for their monthly Ladies Night Out on June 25. Catch us at "34 Fourteen". Wine, food, shopping and more.We will have a few new styles to debut that night too!

Our friends at TRINKETS AND TREASURES on Tujunga in Studio City have a nice little assortment of select items from our line currently on display. This boutique is so inviting and dreamy. What a wonderful atmosphere they have created. If you are in the neighborhood, (at Aroma Coffee&Tea perhaps?) pop in and say hello. Remember a portion of our sales is donated to various pet charities and the ladies at T & T are all about animal rescue too. We love them! Sunday = FUN DAY! Tomorrow we will be holding our 1st annual Sunday Brunch event. A Mother's Day pre-celebration at Boulevard Pet Clinic in Studio City. From 12-3pm. Come by and see us. We will be there with lots of new items for sale and some of our good friends will be there with the best of their lines too. Artists, crafters, gift basket specialists...too many to mention. Plus animal adoptions! And mimosas! And very importantly-a portion of the proceeds will benefit animal rescue ...... so c'mon...... How can you resist? Hope to see you there! :-)

Thought for the day = Abundance! How do you interpret that word? One official definition goes something like this....an extremely plentiful or oversufficient quantity or supply. It also can mean "overflowing fullness" like, abundance of the heart. Something to think about.

GOOD NEWS! The 3 "MuskaTerriers" have been successfully adopted (hooray!) Miss Snow White is still up for adoption and hoping to find a forever home soon. She is a firecracker. So full of great energy and miles of smiles. A happy camper!

Snow White aka Angel-Wings, is a 2-3 year-old Pit mix. She is pure love- a greeter with immense energy and abundant joy. She was rescued from a shelter at the midnight hour. She has completed obedience training at the top of her class and is ready to go home with her Prince or Princess Charming.

Great with people. Gentle with a six-year old boy where she was being fostered. Good with most dogs with like-minded high energy. For more info, please visit the following links:

Happy to report that we have some new items in the etsy shop. This one, our patriotic 4th of July special, is cutting it a bit close to the holiday, but nonetheless here it is! We also have some pretty little copper and gold pieces, all on the double strand chains that are so popular. Most have the awesome double lobster claw clasp closure that can actually be hooked onto the belt loops on jeans and pants - a super-cute and "charm"ing look! Checking in on our inventory at The Sewing Lounge. Superstar owner, Jessica, has graciously been a supporter of SavLib from the very beginning. From one SL to another ... thank you!!!

Also, we are currently working on new styles and combinations for later in the year. Can't wait to share new ideas and designs with everyone. Very exciting. Good stuff ahead!

Hoping to check out the brand new "Eagle Rock n'Roll Farmers' Market" this coming Sunday. In the past we've had a table at their sister market

on Woodman Avenue which is always fun. See photo! Anxious to see what the scene is like at the Eagle Rock locale. Did anyone go yesterday?

Finally - some serious tweaking is being done to our website being now. Hoping it will launch by end of month. Keep you posted on that one.

Savannah Liberty

Savannah, my Divine Daveene passed on June 4, 2008 after giving us 17+ years. Her lil’ buddy and I found it very difficult to take our first walk without her. Savannah’s collar hung on the front door motionless. I embraced it to my heart, kissed it with my tears then found myself putting her collar around my neck. Liberty looked up toward the familiar jingle sounds coming from Savannah’s tags and St. Francis. We walked out the front door. Somehow there was comfort with each jingly step we took, a happy presence of our precious, protective girl. So. I wear her collar and made a matching set for Liberty and me. Savannah continues to walk by our side, herding us on with her infinite wisdom, inspiring us with her loving spirit. She greeted every morning eagerly. Once her collar was buckled on, it was like the first day of her life. And so Liberty and I buckle ours on. We walk with happy jingles throughout the day, celebrating each moment with gratitude for Savannah choosing us to share this blessed life with.

Liberty Pearl was rescued by U. S. Marines from the Baghdad Palace in 2003, fostered in the Iraqi zoo until a guardian “Christmas” angel brought her over to the United States and gave her to me. Savannah, upon first sniffing this frightened, depressed little dog gently gathered her under her thoughtful tutelage, enabling Liberty to become who she is today.
